The fastest growing drying curing segment of the industry in last 10 years has been utilizing ultraviolet radiation instead of heat or solvents. Ultraviolet light can cause cross linking in a polymer with its catalyst in a few seconds and hardens the surface or the entire thickness. Up to 20 mm in thickness can be cured with adequate UV intensity. UV sensitive paints, inks, adhesives result in the minimum scrap or loss as the material only begins hardening after UV exposure. UV intensity of the lamp becomes very important as the thickness of the material. The amount of UV required is increased logarithmically as the thickness increases. We offer a wide
variety of lamps and lamp configurations according to each customers needs while using our standard home designed modules.
Most UV lamps, mercury, metal halogen or iron, cobalt produce a wide spectrum of ultraviolet. Depending on the request, a different kind of quartz lamp envelope can be ordered in order to eliminate ozone. Pyrex filters may help eliminate below 280 nanometer germicidal outputs. Special band pass filters may eliminate anything below 320 nanometer and above 420 nanometer light output.
Some of the filters may eliminate most of the infrared and visible keeping the substrate temperature low. We can accommodate every user with the most appropriate tool. The units can be stand up, horizontal, clam shell type or conveyorized using various sizes of variable speed conveyor and teflon belts. All our units use forced air cooling, special coated air cooled patented reflectors. Large units require air exhaust ducts to remove ozone and hot air from the room. All the precautions for human safety is considered.

Low pressure(Low cost, small throughput, longer lamp life, low maintenance, low intensity not suitable for thicker films of material)

It could have long life hot cathode(up to 9000hrs) quartz UVC lamps for some of the curing with light output at around 254 nanometer or 350nm to 365 nm UVA exposure lamps of fluorescent type. The both type may be installed in the same unit for both UVA exposure and UVC curing at the same time.

The life span of UVA lamps are around 700 hrs and may be stretched to 1000hrs.

Simply answer following questions such that we can calculate the number of lamps, lamp size, distance between them and output wavelength

1.What is the substrate and film thickness?
2.What is the required wavelength?
3.Do you need a clam shell type table or conveyorized variable speed throughput?
4.Required table dimensions, including floor height?
5.How fast do you want to cure the substrate?
6.Do you need a stationary or movable unit?
7.Available power input in voltage, cycle, and amperage at your establishment?

Medium pressure(higher cost, fast throughput, suitable for speed production and thicker material films) Mostly mercury containing hand made quartz lamps are used with power input of up to 400Watt/inch. Life span is 1000 hours with 25% light output reduction, which may be stretched up to 2000hrs, using lower power settings. Power outputs run from 400Watt to18000Watt depending on the lamp length. The wavelength peak is at 365nm for most of the lamps while a lot of UVC produced. If desired, non ozone type quartz envelops can be ordered. The units are mostly conveyorized. The double filtering may eliminate 100% of the UVC, UVB, visible and most of the infrared, providing a safe environment for the workers and the substrate. The lamps can be operated at 50%, 75% and 100% power. The conveyor speed can be changed for different UV dosage. Increasing the distance of the lamps from the substrate also changes UV intensity. We can offer any combination of lamp length, intensity, conveyor belt width, use of multiple filtering to enhance or remove some wavelengths produced by the lamp.

Simply answer following design criteria such that we can determine lamp size and power output required and price it overnight.

1.What is the substrate to be cured?
2.What is the most desired wavelength?
3.Do you want ozone producing or non-ozone lamps?
4.Do you need an infrared filter, visible light filter?
5.What size air exhaust duct is available?
6.Power input, 208, 220, 240, 380, 575, VOLTS, 50Hz or 60Hz?
7.Required conveyor height from the floor?
8.What is the desired conveyor length?
9.What is the required conveyor belt width?
10.What is the required throughput speed?
11.What is the substrate thickness?
12.Do you need a stationary or movable unit?

High pressure metal halogen systems(Very fast, moderate in cost, individual modules) Using up to 800Watt/inch pure quartz lamps of standard sizes 400W, 500W, 1000W, 1200W, 2000W, 4000W. Each lamp is individually mounted in its reflector with its pyrex filter or with added band pass filters in order to eliminate visible and some portions of the infrared spectrum. The curing rate is incredibly fast with a peak at 365nm. The forced air cooled lamps produce almost no ozone. Units up to 8000Watt of power may be used without any air exhaust to outside. For large items to be conveyorized, shadowing(reduced intensity) where lamp modules overlap may pose problems. Completely portable units to be used anywhere with lamp life span of 700hrs to 1000hrs can be used. We can determine the size of he modules and the number of the modules required in order to quote you overnight
